Help us to engage and inspire future generations of Londoners by supporting our free, award-winning learning programmes.
Engaging young Londoners is at the heart of our social purpose as a museum. We want all children across the capital to be fascinated by the history and heritage we share, and grow up excited by what they can discover in the Museum of London.
In the 2017-18 academic year we aim to directly engage 141,000 school pupils and have 60,000 people take part in our family programmes.
We will engage more than 1 million school pupils indirectly, for example through partnership projects and teacher training. We also anticipate that our online resources will receive page views exceeding 1 million.
We are now looking for supporters and sponsors who will help us engage and inspire thousands more young Londoners.
Help us reach every London schoolchild, by supporting one of our current priority projects:
Primary and secondary learning
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities learning programme
Delivering the perfect family day out in east London
We currently engage more than 75,000 primary and 40,000 secondary schoolchildren each year through free learning sessions, outreach and self-directed visits in our galleries.
We are seeking sponsors and supporters who will allow us to continue this crucial part of our learning programme, reaching more London schoolchildren than ever before.
Every London schoolchild does not simply mean all those in mainstream schooling, or all those for whom it is easy to take part in our workshops. It means children and young adults of all abilities who may face a range of challenges, including those in special schools, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) units in mainstream schools, pupil referral units and other alternative provision schooling.
Our sector-leading SEND programme works with children and young adults with a wide range of additional needs: from moderate to profound and multiple learning disabilities; social, emotional and mental health issues; and those with complex medical conditions. By offering free-of-charge workshops and projects tailored to the needs of each school, we ensure no one is excluded.
This programme provides deep, longer-term engagement to over 1,600 participants every year.
We are seeking sponsors and supporters who will allow us to continue this hugely sought after element of our learning programme.
The Museum of London is uniquely placed to bring families together through a shared sense of belonging and a connection to this city. We have a thriving programme of more than 1,000 events and activities each year.
We are now seeking sponsors and supporters who will help us reach 60,000 people in family groups in 2017-18.
More than ten years after it opened, the Museum of London Docklands attracts more visitors than ever, and is increasingly popular with visitors in family groups.
To ensure our family visitors gain as much from their visit as possible, we plan to make changes to our galleries that will range from new captions and interpretation (allowing different generations of a family to explore an object together), to brand new spaces within our galleries where families can directly interact with our collection.
With your support we will transform the experience of the Museum of London Docklands for young people and their families.
This quarterly festival series at Museum of London Docklands began in 2015 and is supported by Arts Council England. Through these weekend-long events we aim to attract local people from across neighbouring boroughs (including Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Lewisham and Greenwich) and to draw at least 1,000 visitors to the museum each weekend.
These festivals offer a variety of family activities across the weekend, around themes developed in consultation with local communities.
We actively promote these festivals through a variety of channels, including leaflets, e-marketing, social media and promotion to local schools. We are also working in partnership with organisations such as MumsNet to promote the events to local communities.
